The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more. For this reason, the name of the organization was updated in 1988 after a vote of national convention delegates to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture.

The FFA Chapter does many things through out the year to stay busy. Here are some of the things that we do around the community:
Activities that we have done last year:
Highway clean up - picked up trash along the highways outside of elk horn, and kimballton
Fruit sales- sold as many FFA fruit items to the community as we could
Ski trip- if we reached our goal of 40 items each we got to go on a ski trip
National convention- 6 kids get the opportunity to go on a trip to Illinois and learn about how agriculture affects us and explore Illinois, it is a opportunity of a lifetime
State FFA- we go and look at other people projects and degrees which helps you understand how it impacts us
Test Plot- a local farmer comes and harvests a plot and the students get to earn the harvesting process
Christmas Party- we meet before Christmas break and we have a potluck and we bring fuzzy socks filled with candy and then exchange with someone
